The days of having to dress up in a tuxedo and waltz around the casino placing $1000 Blackjack bets like James Bond have long gone, in fact with the advent of online Blackjack you can sit there in your underwear and a vest scoffing pies if you so wish!

However if you are visiting a land based casino then a little more decorum is called for and as there is no real dress code you are well advised to wear something comfortable and not something that will annoy fellow players!

While the need for proper etiquette playing online blackjack is less of an issue one should approach the game with the same strategy  as one would in a real casino.

Every Blackjack player is different and some like to chat and have a bit of a banter with fellow players and the Dealer, however some players prefer to just sit and play.

With this in mind if you are a loud outrageous player do remember that everyone may not want a running commentary on every hand dealt and you are more likely to find yourself playing alone if you start to get on other players nerves!

Also, the player who is sat in the last position on the table, is not your enemy, and even though it appears that whatever move they make will affect the Dealers hand, this is not to be taken as a green light to abuse them if they take a card that ultimately causes the Dealer to win.

Often players will blame this player for taking that extra card, or standing their hand when a different decision would have made the Dealer bust, there are just as many times when the opposite is true.

So don't ever go blaming that player for the outcome of the game, as your decision made just as much difference to the result as theirs did!

Before you sit down and play make sure you are fully aware of the rules of that particular game of Blackjack, every table will have a small sign at the side of the Dealer listing how the game plays, and also on the table felt will be further game rules, namely what a Dealer does on a soft, hard or all 17's, the Blackjack payouts and the insurance bet information.

You will drive other players mad if you are forever asking "can I split this hand" or "can I Double Down", so be a more courteous player and make sure the rules are fully understood before you sit down to play.

Tipping the Dealer is something you should not get carried away doing, some people will always flip the Dealer a chip when they win, however by doing this you are giving away your bankroll and lowering your chances of a winning session dramatically.

Of course if you wish to tip you should but only occasionally, some people wait until the Dealer is being replaced to tip, as all tips are pooled between the shift Dealers they all get an equal share of the pot.

Our final etiquette tip is for you not to blame the Dealer for the hands you are receiving, ranting and raving at a Dealer when he is dealing you losing hands will not do you any favors, if you are on a losing streak then take a break, go to the buffet or to the bar and unwind for a while.
